Motorsports Titanium
Titanium is a lightweight metal
(approximately 60% of the density of steel) with outstanding corrosion
resistance. Its superior strength and high melting point (over
3,000° F), make it an obvious material choice for the aircraft and
motorsports industries.
The most popular grades of Titanium are 6AL-4V, also known as
Titanium Grade 5; 3AL-2.5V, also known as Titanium Grade 9; and
Commercially Pure Grade 2.
M.U.N. Motorsports supplies 3AL-2.5V in tubular form. Often referred to as "3-2", 3AL-2.5V is also known as
Grade 9, offers 20-50% higher strength than C.P. grades, but is more
formable and weldable then Ti 6AI-4V. Additionally, it has higher
Tensile Strength than the strongest unalloyed grade.
